Franklin (Lin) Bernarr Short passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 13th, 2016 at the age of 82 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ragna and their three children and their families: Joel and Terry (Short), Jennifer and Monica; Dagny and Philippe (Fanfani) and Fabrice and Myanna; Denise and Darren (King) and Kally and Abby. Lin was born on February 8th, 1934 and grew up in Chilliwack, BC with his father Calvin, his mother Addie, his brother Richard and his sister Glenda. Early in his life, he worked as a rancher, logger, miner, mechanic, and diamond driller. He also served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Metal Technician repairing planes. After getting married in July 1959, he and Ragna moved to Denmark where they bought and operated a gas station. Lin liked being his own boss, so when they returned to Canada they bought Pillar Lake Fishing Resort in Falkland and then the No. 1 Fruit Stand in Kaleden. Lin loved the outdoors and often took his family fishing throughout the BC interior and along the West Coast and hunting up the Bull River. In retirement, he could be found searching for gold in the Monashee Mountains. He had a sharp sense of humour right up until the end and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of his Life will be held in the Spring. His family will always carry his memory in their hearts.
