Fred John Bongers
October 21, 1952 – May 17, 2012
It is with heavy hearts that we , the family of Fred John Bongers, announce his passing on May 17, 2012 in Vernon, B.C. Freddo will be sadly missed by all of his “ kids and turtles ”, Kerry, Lori (Chad), Mike, Dustin (Mel), his grandchildren, Brayden and Kohen, his mother, Wilhelmina, and his brother, sisters, numerous nieces, nephews & friends. Freddy (also known as Bong) was an inspiration to all who met him. He was a hardworker, who took pride in being a Union Plumber/Pipefitter. He was kind and gentle and at the same time one of the strongest people you could have ever met. Freddo was a man who could smile in the face of adversity, and handled everything that was put in front of him with grace and dignity. He loved music, ladies, and lacrosse, but most of all he loved his family, which included the Armstrong Shamrocks. Special thanks go out to the nurses and staff of Polson Special who truly allowed Fred’s family to sleep at night knowing that he was receiving such great care, and to the Armstrong Shamrocks, who year after year help raise money for the Huntingtons Society; you will never know how much this meant to him and his family. A Celebration of Life Tea will be held Saturday May 26, 2012 at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Hall (3335 Patterson Street Armstrong, BC). For those wishing to do so, donations may be made in Fred’s memory to the Huntington Society of Canada (151 Frederick Street, Suite 400 Kitchner, Ontario N2H 2M2). Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.MyAlternatives.ca. Arrangements have been entrusted to ALTERNATIVES FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES Armstrong 250-546-7237 & Vernon 250-0558-0866.
