Fred Feniuk

Fred was the youngest child born to Mike & Irene Feniuk in Manitoba, but grew up on a farm near Gronlid, Saskatchewan. He farmed a half section near Gronlid and then worked for Smith Hatcheries in Melfort, Saskatchewan, until his retirement in the late 80’s.

He married Ruth Johnston in 1965 and they resided in Melfort until their adventurous move to Vernon, B.C. in 1991. Fred liked to restore old chairs, build piano stools and once made a large rocking chair and spinning wheel. He took up wood carving and his handiwork is all around his home. He would proudly display his work at various flea markets or sales at Schubert Centre and would pass them on to family and friends as well. He was predeceased by his parents, Mike & Irene, wife Ruth, all six of his brothers, Peter, Metro, Steve, John, William and Sam, sister- in-law, Mary Feniuk and niece, Betty Czapp. He is survived by his brothers’ children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A service will be held at the Schubert Centre in Vernon, 3505 30th Avenue, on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11:30 am.

Burial to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
