Frederick Henry Leinweber
Fred was born in a small farmhouse near North Battleford, Saskatchewan December 24, 1931. He died unexpectedly at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver B.C. November 13, 2008.
He was the only son in a family with 4 sisters. He left the farm after some 23 years, and took up logging and construction. He also got married and afterwards moved to the Vernon area in 1965. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witness in 1954 and was active in sharing his faith with others.
No account of Fred’s life would be complete without mentioning his love affair with Cuba. He took early retirement at age 55 and would vacation in Cuba with his wife. Cuba’s poor touched Fred’s heart. He found great joy in sharing his faith, and extending a generous hand.
In his later years you could always find Fred on the streets of Vernon, on his motorized scooter, telling others about the Bible. Yet we all knew his heart was still in Cuba.
A memorial service will be held November 19 at 2:00 pm. Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. 1424 Mission Road. Roy McMahon Officiating.
