We regret to announce the passing of Frieda on September 3rd, 2015 in the Nanaimo Regional District Hospital at the age of 82 years.
Frieda leaves behind her daughter, Denise (Stephen) Aiken; her son, Gordon Juli; two daughters-in-law, Laurie Juli and Kati Barker; five grandchildren, Kristina (Matthew), Valaurie, Marcel (Tammi), John (Heather) and Michael; three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Miles and Erica; and her best friend of over twenty years, Linda. Frieda and Linda spent many days out and about exploring the Okanagan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolf (Ed) Juli in 1990; and two sons, Ernst Juli in 2005 and Peter Barker in 1993.
Frieda was born in Dusseldorf, Germany on August 4th, 1933, immigrating to Canada in her early 20s. After living in the Lower Mainland and Salmon Arm, she settled in Vernon where she remained for 56 years. She was a vivacious reader and taught herself English when she moved to Canada. She could often be found reading a book with a dictionary balanced on one knee. Her passion was the pursuit of religious and spiritual truth. At 75, she tackled a book on quantum physics. She stated that it was a great book but she had to read it twice because of the vocabulary.
Frieda considered herself a “cat person.” She had a cat named Mushi for over 18 years that she always missed. However, Linda and Frieda took great pleasure in spoiling Linda’s two pet Chihuahuas, Mikey and Daisy whom she called “the kids.”
Frieda raised and looked after her family with passion
and she will be missed.
Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Frieda’s Life which will take place in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 9th, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
