1943 - 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gail on October 18, 2016 in Salmon Arm, BC, born August 12, 1943 in Swan River, MB. Gail took a special pride in her secretarial work, and yet, she would have returned to farm work in a heartbeat. She was a very talented woman who loved music and played the accordion, she was a published poet and writer, a librarian, farmer, and a bountiful gardener with award winning roses (roses were her passion).
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Darlene, Bev; son: Brian; sister: Loreen; granddaughter: Leah; extended family and many friends. She is predeceased by her sisters: Joanne, Patsy; and parents: Tom and Lois Brown.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 12:00pm at Cliffside Cemetery with a Memorial Tea to follow at St. George’s Anglican Church Hall. Those wishing to do so may make a donation in Gail’s memory to the Leprosy Foundation of Canada (1-888-445-4447, 200-90 Allstate Parkway, Markham, ON L3R 6H3). Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.MyAlternatives.ca
I met Death in my dream one night
A dark shape in the fading light.
Somehow I thought I’d be afraid
With all the sorrow that Death has made.
Death came toward me in the gloom
And yet I felt not the sense of doom.
‘Twas almost like I was suddenly warm
And death had such an alluring charm.
Behind that form a future stands
In many different far-off lands.
I wanted to take something away with me
Before their world I’d gently flee,
I searched in vain, then cried aloud -
“There are no pockets in a shroud.”
