Garnet George Sproule

After a long and fulfilling life in Oyama, Garnet George Sproule passed away peacefully at the age of 83, surrounded by his family and friends. Garnet is survived by Charlotte, his loving wife of 61 years, their five children and spouses, 15 grandchildren and one great grandson. Over the years Garnet was very involved in the community participating with the legion, the boy scouts, the Fruit and Vegetables Workers Union and the UIC Board. He also played hockey and baseball on local teams. He served his country in WW2 in France and Holland, volunteered and trained for duty in special forces, but was removed when it was discovered he was under age. Garnet would then re-enlist when he came of age. After the war Garnet returned to the place he loved, Oyama. He purchased the land on which he would build his family, home and orchard. His family invites you to share in a celebration of Garnet’s life Sunday, December 21st 2008 from 3-6 pm at Oyama Community Hall. In lieu of flowers please donate to the local food bank.
