September 28, 1953 - January 3, 2021
We regret to announce the passing of Garnet Thomas Tetz of Vernon on January 3, 2021. Garnet was born to Adin and Dina Tetz on September 28, 1953 in the small Kootenay town of Ymir, where he spent his childhood. He moved to Vernon in 1972 and worked at Riverside Forest Products until retiring in 2002 for medical reasons.
After retiring, Garnet enjoyed watching his beloved family and friends enjoying the family cabin on Okanagan Lake. There was nothing he loved more than family get-togethers, joined by the many friends who gathered around him. Garnet hosted family reunions every August long weekend for many years at the cabin and his home, with family coming from all over BC and Alberta. Garnet was a member of the Vernon Curling Club for several years. He curled with many great friends, along with his brothers and nephews in bonspiels all over. Garnet the great had the biggest heart. His door was always open.
Over the years, he was a father figure to many kids. Garnet will be dearly missed. He is predeceased by his father and mother and an older brother, Dale. Left to mourn are his partner Lynn, his children Aimee, Adin and Tegan and stepdaughter Vanessa, granddaughters Annika and Sophia, his brothers Wayne, Terry, Rick, Kelly and Ellery.
We will be having a memorial on Okanagan lake when the weather warms up to honour the life of our beloved Garnet.
