Retired Superintendent, RCMP, Geoffrey John Davis, born January 19, 1932 at Nelson, B.C., passed away February 21, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Sadly mourned by his best friend and wife of 47 years, Donna; his daughters Jody (Brian Nuttall), Wendy (Brian Lutz) and son Greg. Poppa dearly loved his grandchildren, Gordon and Scott Nuttall, Alicia Wynia, Cameron and Brianne Lutz and great granddaughter Avary Wynia. Survived also by brothers Douglas, Norman, Bruce and sister Dianne.
Geoff was an avid outdoors man and shared this passion with his family. He was a born fisherman and his greatest love in retirement was chasing the elusive salmon. He was a strong all-around athlete and played hockey, golf, curling and baseball throughout his life.
Geoff was a long time member of Rotary and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship for his work with the Youth Exchange Program. He believed strongly in giving back to his community and gave freely of his time and talents.
The family truly believes that Geoff is now sitting in a 14’ aluminum boat, fishing rod in one hand and a beer in the other. The ocean is calm and the fish are always biting!
The family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude for the very compassionate care of Polson ‘Special’ staff to Geoff during his stay there and allowing him to die with dignity. Special thanks go to Dr. Kadar.
A Celebration of Geoff’s life will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. from the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the Pleasant Valley Tea Room. In lieu of flowers those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Geoff may do so to The Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, 20 Eglinton Ave. W., #1200, Toronto, ON M4R 1K8.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, 542-4333.
