MR. GEORGE ALVAN BAILEY, a long time resident of Falkland, died on March 31, 2005, in Hospice House at 70 years of age. George is survived by: his wife of 30 years Betty; 3 daughters, Florence (Ken) of Ucluelet, BC, Georgina of Errington, BC and Vivian (Dean) of Dawson Creek, BC; 5 sons, Ed (Lynn) of Nanaimo, BC, Greg (Glenda) of Clairmont, AB, Rodney (Lynn) of Parksville, BC, Duane (Kelly) of Abbotsford, BC, Darren (Trish) of Agassiz, BC; 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Harvey (Helen), Olive (Fred), Norma (Del), Wally (Doreen) and Barbara, and many nieces and nephews and friends. George worked for the Dept. of Highways in Falkland for 34 years, he always had a smile on his face, he loved bowling and gardening. He was a baseball fan and also coached for many years. A Service of Remembrance was held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Vernon with Pastor Awlwyn Balnave officiating. Interment of the cremated remains followed in Falkland Cemetery.
