George Barrett


We regret to announce the sudden passing of Alan George Barrett on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Alan was born in Carshalton, Surrey, England on April 13, 1924 and served with the British Fleet during WWII. He immigrated to Canada, arriving in Montreal on July 3, 1964. Shortly after his arrival he moved to Vancouver, residing there until coming to Armstrong in the early 1980’s. Alan was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 35 for fifteen years. Predeceased by his parents Frederick G. and Olive R. and his older brother John, Alan is survived by one sister Betty (John) Galley of Surrey, England; nieces, nephews and extended family all in the United Kingdom. He will be sadly missed by his adopted family John, Phyllis, Grenville, Christine and Corlee Blake of Armstrong; Loveday, Fabian, Mitchell, Will, Sage and Dean Alexis of Armstrong; Britt, Luke and Smokey Forsythe of Fort. St. John; and many friends. A Remembrance Tea will be held at a later date at the Armstrong Legion. Cremation. Arrangements in the care of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, Armstrong, 546-7237.
