It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doug Morrison at Hospice House on Friday, June 2nd, 2017 at the age of 72 years.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents George & Joan (nee Markwick) Morrison and his eldest daughter, Shelley Budgen.

Cherished memories of Doug will forever be held in the heart of his wife Ann, to whom he was married for 48 years; his son-in-law and family, Mark (Ashley, Kaitlyn and Cole) Budgen; three daughters and their families, Stephanie & Dan (Amy, Jeffrey, Christopher, Michael and Melissa) Curtis, Meghan & Layne (Carson, Avery and Adam) Bureau and Erin & John (Liam, and Ethan) MacLeod; two brothers, Bruce (Thel) and Rod (Barb); one sister, Dale (David); his aunt Jill; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.

Doug was born on June 28th, 1944 in Vernon, B.C. He was raised in Lumby, B.C. where he completed his elementary and secondary education. He attended Notre Dame University in Nelson, B.C. where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Education Degree. Doug went on to complete his

Masters of Education Degree from Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington.

Doug met Ann Reilander while attending university and they were married in 1969. He taught one year in Nelson and moved to Vernon shortly after where he and Ann raised their four daughters. Doug was a dedicated, hard working teacher and administrator in the Armstrong and Shuswap District for 32 years. He was passionate about teaching throughout his career and always enjoyed working with various colleagues, parents and students, always putting his whole heart and soul into everything he did.

Doug had a keen interest in sports, hockey being his favourite, playing with the Pecan Pie team for 30 years. He was quick witted, had a great sense of humour and was devoted to his family. Doug will be deeply missed each and every day.

A Prayer Vigil Service will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Friday,

June 9th, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Father Dale Normandeau celebrant. A Reception will immediately follow the Funeral Mass in the St. James Parish Centre.
