George passed away peacefully in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 88 years with his family by his side.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Liz; one son, James (Monica) of Coldstream, BC; three brothers, James (Sharon) of Coldstream, BC, Donald of Bjorkdale, Saskatchewan and Gordon of Tisdale, Saskatchewan; and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice and his daughter, Pamela.
George completed his high school years at Balfour Tech in Regina, Saskatchewan. He served his country as a proud member of the RCMP for over 25 years, with much of his service being spent in telecommunications. George's postings were Canada wide including Ontario, BC and Inuvik, NWT.
After retirement, he and his wife, Beatrice, moved to Coldstream. They were respected and successful owners of the former Radio Shack and then Shadow Alarms in Vernon. George was an active member of the local Lions Club, RCMP Veterans' Association, and donated time and service to the Tetra Society of North America, building physical solutions for people with physical disabilities.
His second home was his workshop where he spent many hours repairing cars, welding, metal lathing and inventing mechanical gadgets for himself, friends and family. He built a class "A" motor home from the ground up.
George's love and commitment to his wife Beatrice, his daughter Pamela and his son James and wife Monica was steadfast. After the death of Beatrice, he found love again in his later years when he married Liz. They enjoyed dancing, travelling and each other's loving companionship for eleven years.
In respecting George's wishes, he was cremated and a Celebration of his Life is being planned for early May. A notice will be published in the Morning Star closer to the date of this gathering.
"George, we will all miss you. Your spirit of love, commitment and kindness to family and friends will live on in our hearts and memory forever".
