It is with great sadness the Green family announces the sudden passing of George Calder Green on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Aged 79 years. George will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years, Cookie of Armstrong; four children Katherine (Green) and Keith Pearson of Kelowna, Bruce Green of Vernon, Patti Green of Calgary and Bob Green of Armstrong; grandsons Chad and Donald; granddaughters Amber and Brianne; great granddaughter Mikayla; brothers Donald (Herb) and Jim; sister Cecelia and extended family. George was born and raised in Enderby. He met Cookie while working in Armstrong and they were married in 1947. They lived in Enderby, Vernon and Kelowna before settling in Armstrong. George had a great love of hockey and was an original committee member of the Coca Cola Pee Wee Winter Carnival Hockey Tournament. He received a Life Membership from the Vernon Minor Hockey Association in 1976. George was a realtor for many years before retiring and was a proud Legion member for over 60 years. He could often be seen around Armstrong on his scooter with a smile on his face, visiting and telling a joke or two. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 10, 2006, at 1:00 P.M., at St. Andrew’s United Church, Enderby. Jim Sharman officiating. Following the service, the family invites everyone to join them for refreshments in the Church Hall.
