George Kalinin passed away peacefully on February 3, 2006 at Hospice House in Vernon with his family at his side at the age of 83. He was predeceased by one son Roy in 1994. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Cynthia of Vernon, one son Roger, three daughters; Laura, Ronalee (Brian) and Diane (Rodger). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Cole (Kristen), Lee (Kari), Karly, Ashley, Jeff, Alex, Connor and Keenan. Also survived by two great grandchildren.
George served with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada at the age of 18. After the war he was employed by Air Canada for 28 years. The last 20 years of retirement were spent on the Okanagan, travelling, hunting and fishing. Memorial donations may be made to the Vernon Hospice House Society.
