1926 – 2014
George passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on February 13, 2014 at the age of 87. He is survived by: his loving wife Annette of 55 years; daughter: Karen, granddaughter: Alana; son: Lee (Andrea); grandchildren: Lavone, Luke, Carrera, Kayleigh; great granddaughter: Tianna; brothers: Victor Kazimer, Andy (Patricia) Kazimer: Sister; Anne (Les) Valouch; including numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
Born at home in Glendon, Alta. and raised in Lavington, B.C. with 5 sisters and 5 brothers. As the oldest boy he developed a protective and providing nature, a quality that all those who knew him enjoyed. In 1969 he designed and built a cable suspension bridge over the Columbia River near Revelstoke, B.C. so that his logging crew could get to work more safely. He enjoyed many work related accomplishments, even returned to school at the age of 48 to obtain a Power Engineering certification and was able to retire at the age of 59 in Nanaimo, B.C. as a Marine Engineer.
Spending time with his family, hunting (especially Beaton River and Galloping Hills) and traveling extensively with his wife were the passions of his life. When it came to traveling, he was known to get good value from their motorhomes and took great pride in doing his own custom modifications, maintenance and repairs. With one in particular they enjoyed over 480,000 “George driven” miles. Their travels included Mexico, Cuba, Australia, Fiji, Cook Islands, Dominican Republic and a Caribbean / Panama Canal cruise with Cuba and Mexico being George’s favorites. Last winter, as with many winters, was again spent in Melaque, Mx.
At George’s request no flowers please. Service will be February 22, 2014 at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home at 1:00 pm and a celebration of George’s life following in the tea room.
