George James Moore
We regret to announce the death at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on June 6, 2010, of George James Moore, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 87 years. George was born in Kamloops and raised in Salmon Arm. He was a resident of 100 Mile House for 26 years, prior to retiring to Vernon in 1990.
George was a logger for most of his life, and was one of the last horse-loggers in BC. He raced chuck wagons and was a “Ben Hur” chariot driver for a number of years.
George was predeceased by six brothers and by three great-grandsons. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Edna; seven children: Alice (Dan) McKeith, Alec (Darlene) Moore, Grace (Ray) Allan, Georgia (Don) Reese, Jean (Jacques) St. Pierre, Roy (Elaine) Moore and Ken (Sherrie) Moore; 24 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother, Wes (Joyce), sister Evelyn Smith, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Saturday, June 12, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Winfield on Monday, June 14, at 10:00 a.m. Friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of George to the M.
