We regret to announce the passing of George James Phillips at 12:15 pm on May 23, 2006, at the age of 90 years. After a long and painful battle with cancer, George passed with his wife Ruby at his side, at the Vernon Hospice House. Born February 21, 1916, in Bowsman, Manitoba, George was the sixth of eight children born to William and Mary Phillips. George is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Ruby Phillips, son Larry (April) Phillips, grandchildren Dustin (Kerry), Nicole, Tiffany and Adam of Port Coquitlam, daughter Wendy (Blaine) Gordon, grandchildren Cale, Carly and Tracie of Enderby; step-children Gordon (Alison) Taylor and grandson Peter, Douglas (Elizabeth) Taylor and grandsons Dylan and Jacob, all of Salmon Arm; Ian Taylor of Red Deer, Ab, Allen Taylor of Clinton, BC and Donna Howe of Mission, BC, with granddaughter Crystal (Cuyler) Biller and great granddaughter Jenna of Abbotsford, granddaughter Danielle Cambridge with great granddaughters Julie Ann and Dana and granddaughter Terry Cambridge of Salmon Arm. George is also survived by sisters Ethel Parkman of Enderby and Belvia Webber of Kelowna as well as many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by brothers Earl, Bill and Roy, sisters Beulah and Wilma as well as his first wife Jessie in 1971 and his oldest son Terry in 1971. George worked in the forest industry on the coast from the 1930’s until retiring to Enderby in 1975. His favourite hobbies were dancing and getting fire wood, which he did until he was 88 years old. A Celebration of Life service will be held 12:00 noon, July 29, 2006, at the Enderby Royal Canadian Legion.
