George Seifert

September 30, 2017

With great sorrow the family announces the sudden passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather George Seifert on September 30, 2017 in Kamloops, BC at 92. Born in Germany, he was the third of eight children.

A veteran of World War II, he came to Canada in the early 1950s to work on the St. Lawrence Seaway. In 1952 he met his future wife, Martina, in Montreal. They wed in 1954 in Dawson Creek, BC where they lived for 17 years.

He worked as a logger and at the Coke plant. The following years took them to Vernon in 1971 and Prince George in 1977 where he worked in commercial sign service.

After retirement, they returned to Vernon in 1998 and then onto Chilliwack in 2008. He eventually moved back to Vernon and later Kamloops.

A hard worker his entire life, he was mechanically inclined, a proficient handyman and enjoyed building and fixing things. Often tinkering with his inventions, he had an insatiable curiosity and loved to learn.

He savoured time with his family, travel, sightseeing and exploring. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping.

He also liked classical music, reading, nature shows and especially winning at board games.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Katherine, Peter (Jacquie), Tom (Ruth), Norm, Sonya (Dave) and Sandra (John); grandchildren, Alannah, Lance, Krysta, Brittany, Lindsay, Braden and Adam; great-granddaughter Avery; and his brothers Josef and Heinz in Germany as well as many extended family throughout Germany and Austria.

He was predeceased by his wife Martina, his parents Max and Clara, stepmother Anna, siblings Else, Gerhard, Klara, Alfred, and Erika, all who remained in Germany.€
