George William “Bill” Hood

With sadness we announce the passing of George William “Bill” Hood on Tuesday, March 31st, 2009, at the age of 77 years. He passed away peacefully at Vernon Hospice House with wife and daughter by his side.

Bill’s love for music shone through by playing his guitars, supporting live music and swinging ladies around the dance floor. He loved hiking the mountains behind his home on Okanagan Lake. Swimming and lying in the sun was a favourite past time. Bill’s mechanical talents had him fixing vehicles, trailers and medical equipment. He loved sports, mainly hockey, boxing and wrestling. Bill was always there to give a hand.

A loving husband and father, Bill will be sadly missed by his wife of 16 years, Marilynne Calver, his children Lori Bru and Dan Hood of Vernon. Grandchildren Leia Bru of Edmonton, Brittany Bru of Vernon, and Jason and Brandon Pearse of Oregon. Bill will be affectionately remembered by his sisters Betty (Jack) Reid of Vernon, Jean (Jock) Archer of Gibbons, Alta., nieces, nephews, cousins, Marilynne’s children and grandchildren and many friends.

Bill was predeceased by his parents George and Edna Hood, first wife Gladys Hood, brother Jim Hood and grandson Adam Pearse (Hood).

Services to be held at 2pm on Wednesday, April 8 at the Schubert Center in Vernon, BC.

Donations can be made in his memory to the Vernon Hospice House.
