Gerry died suddenly while enjoying life with his son & granddaughter.
He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 50 years Marlene; son Jeffery Glasser (Cynthia), granddaughters Megan, Emma & Aimée of Vernon; daughter Tracilyn Henry (Bob), grandson Adam Scholz (Kristy), granddaughter Allison Henry of Regina; and daughter Gaylene Troesch (Jason), granddaughter Heather Troesch (Craig), great-granddaughter Alanna, and granddaughter Emily Troesch of Regina, along with his 3 sisters & 3 brothers, Marlene's 1 sister & 4 brothers, numerous nieces & nephews, vast extended family, Bernie and many other dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph & Frances Glasser, brothers Michael & Terry, and grandson Jesse.
Gerry was born and raised in the Lampman area in south-eastern Saskatchewan. In 1970, he married Marlene and they started a family in Regina, SK. Gerry worked in the accounting field for the Government of Saskatchewan for 35 years before retiring to Vernon, BC in 2005.
Gerry was an extremely active member of the Knights of Columbus St. Teresa Council 12202 as financial secretary and treasurer as well as an active member of Our Lady of the Valley parish. He received several awards for his work with the KofC.
Throughout his life, he spent countless hours volunteering and helping other people whenever they needed it, including making over 225 blood donations. His garden was his entire backyard and he harvested it to share with everyone. If anyone needed help with repairs or wanted some woodworking done, he made it his priority. Gerry loved to spend time outdoors with family & friends.
Prayers and a Mass will be held in his honour at Our Lady of the Valley Church (10102 Middleton Drive, Coldstream, BC). Prayers: Friday, September 17, 2021 @ 7 pm, Mass: Saturday, September 18, 2021 @ 10 am. Due to COVID restrictions, Prayers & Mass will be restricted to 50 people, however there will be additional seating outdoors and both Prayers & the Mass will be live-streamed - Prayers: https://youtu.be/fT6uE_ETT0c, Mass: https://youtu.be/zTEO0205XO8.
The family asks that if you are not feeling well, please stay home. All those who are attending are strongly encouraged to wear a mask at this time. Flowers are respectfully declined. Memorial donations can be made to the Knights of Columbus 12202 or a charity of your choice.
