Gerald Roy "Gerry" Guina

March 25, 1935 - February 26, 2020
he family of Gerry Guina sadly announce his peaceful passing in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on February 26, 2020. Gerry is survived by his loving wife Shirley; to whom he was married for 62 years. He leaves behind 5 nieces Kathy, Karen, Lorna, Candace and Cindy, 3 nephews Vincent, Bill and Marvin. Predeceased by his mother, father, brothers Patrick, Michael, Leo, William, sisters Mary and Teresa.
Gerry was the last of his family of 8. He left Saskatoon, SK to Vancouver in 1962 and worked in several jobs before retiring to Vernon in 1992. The family would like to thank the staff at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on the 6th floor for being so kind and caring to Gerry and his wife. We would also like to thank Dr. Michael Murphy, our caring doctor who has looked after Gerry numerous stays in the hospital and sadly, his last. Gerry enjoyed retirement time from January 1, 1992 - February 26, 2020 in Vernon. He especially enjoyed times hosting dinner with friends and family and the many visits with nieces and nephews. Gerry and Shirley travelled a lot, but of all the places they went to, he enjoyed his trip to Ireland for a one month stay with friends whom are now deceased. His grandparent's history in Ireland and why they left to come to Canada was always of interest to him. We will miss Gerry's sense of humor, kindness, friendship and fun times with all his nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerry's memory to the Vernon SPCA (4800 Haney Road, Vernon, BC V1H 1P6). There will be a Memorial Mass held for Gerry at 11:00 am on Friday, March 6th, 2020 at St. James Catholic Church (2607 27th Street, Vernon, BC) with reception to follow. Interment will take place following the service.
