GERMAIN BRUNELLE

Brunelle, Germain (Gerry) Edmond Joseph

Dad passed away peacefully on July 8, 2007 at the Alexander Wing of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Born May 30, 1926 in St. Paul, Alberta, raised in Mallardville, Coquitlam, later met and married Phyllis Boulanger on August 25, 1951. In the following years they welcomed four sons and a daughter while he worked as a teacher and moved the family to Doe River, Quesnel, Dawson Creek, Salmon Arm and finally Vernon where he retired at age 55. Gerry will be remembered best by his family and friends for his passion of teaching at Fulton, Hillview and Harwood schools, his love of sports (especially hockey), his lifelong hobby as an avid stamp collector, and for being the center of attention telling stories. Gerry is predeceased by his wife Phyllis and survived by his brother Claude (Arlene); sons Denis (Cindy), Rene (Glenda), Martin (Julie), Gerry Jr., and daughter Janine (Henry) Touwslager; grandchildren Matt (Michelle), Jesse (April), Lane (Sofia), Carla, Devon, David (Annie), Loren, Ryan, Cory, Charity and Joanna; and great grandchildren Ethan, Selah and two on the way. All relatives, stamp collectors, teachers, students and friends from 35 years of teaching and 26 years of retirement will greatly miss Gerry. A special thanks to the staff of Carrington Place and Alexander Wing for all the care and attention given to dad over the last year and a half. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of dad will be gratefully accepted at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital (Alexander Wing). Prayers for Gerry were held Thursday, July 12, 2007. Funeral mass will be held Friday, July 13, 2007 at 1:00 pm at St. James Church in Vernon. Arrangements in care of:
