With sadness we announce the passing of Gerry Cucheron, on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at the age of 66 years. She passed away peacefully at Vernon Hospice House with family at her side.
A loving wife and mother, Gerry will be sadly missed by her husband of 47 years, Elmer of Armstrong; sons Todd (Lori) Cucheron of Calgary and Kevin (Jill) Cucheron of Surrey; granddaughters Justine Cucheron of Red Deer and Rachel Cucheron of Calgary.
Gerry will be affectionately remembered by her sisters Shirley (Garnet) States of Armstrong and Janet (Fred) McCullough of Duncan; brother Bill (Mary) Needoba of Sooke; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Les and Elsie Needoba.
She was born in Vernon on October 29, 1942. Gerry grew up on Grandview Flats, married Elmer in 1961, making their homes and raising their children in Vernon, Spallumcheen, Williams Lake, Rutland, BX and then Armstrong.
Gerry was a talented and creative woman. She was an avid gardener, photographer, rock hound, loved fishing and exploring. Gerry was an artist and craftswoman, she hosted the “Circle of Friends” Christmas Arts and Crafts Show in her home for many years.
Gerry’s career history included homemaking, meat cutting, boat upholstering, and 25 years at The Bay in Vernon. She volunteered many hours decorating the Bay float, serving with St. John’s Ambulance and Vernon Lapidary.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Mountain View Chapel, Armstrong. Reverend Lorraine Powell officiating.
