At age 90, very peacefully and without complaint, Gladys Burns passed away at Creekside Landing where she had resided since July 2008.
She will be remembered for her resolute will at beating back the cancers in her life. She will also be remembered for her easy manner, her gardening, laundry, sewing, knitting, cooking skills and, above all, her unfailing kindness. That she lived within the lives of her family, especially as her grandchildren grew from newborns to young women, brought to Gladys a kind of quality of life that very few people get to experience.
As were her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Messages of condolence may be sent care of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home or by email to messagesGladysBurns@hotmail.com. Persons wishing to send flowers are encouraged instead to donate to the Canadian Cancer Foundation in Gladys’ name.
On behalf of Gladys, her family sends out a message of gratitude to the people in Vernon who contributed to making the last 18 years the most enjoyable period of her life.
May her roses bloom forever.
