Glen Waite

September 1932 – April 2013

We regret to announce the passing of Glen Waite, our hero, a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. Glen was born in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital September 8, 1932 and passed away April 5, 2013 surrounded by his loved ones after a long courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

He is survived by Margaret, his loving wife and best friend of 57 years; his sons: Glen and Laura of Prince George, Michael of Lumby; his daughters: Ellen of Lumby, Patricia and William of Lumby; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Arlene Benwell of Lardeau, BC, and Auntie Dode Polichek of Vernon, BC, extended family and many friends.

On The Road Again was the story of his early life, starting in Armstrong, then to Vancouver, then to the Lardeau Valley. He moved to Kamloops in the early 1950’s where he met and married Margaret in 1956. Their four children were born in the Royal Inland Hospital. His last adventure was to the Lumby area in 1974 where he operated the Spruce Grove until 1982. He has resided in Lumby until his passing. A Celebration of Life Tea will be held on Saturday, April 13 starting at 11:00am at the White Valley Community Hall, 2250 Shields Avenue, Lumby, BC. Friends wishing to do so may make memorial donations to the North Okanagan Hospice Society (3506 27 Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4). Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at
