It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Fredrick Day on December 7, 2004 at Polson North Extended Care in Vernon. Gord will be lovingly remembered by his wife Nell, daughter Deb Edwards (Leroy), sons Marv (Ora-Lynne), Brad, Ken, and Tom (Cindy); seven grandchildren, Megan, Chelsey, Tyson, Chad, Melissa, Brett, and Cameron. He is survived by his brother Jim Day (Marcie) and sister Rosemary Meadows (Norm). Gord was born in Consort Alberta, March 2, 1933. There he developed a fondness for hunting and fishing. Gord married Nell in September 1955. He worked for O.K. Telephone in Kelowna, then Summerland, moving to Vernon with his family in 1967. He retired from B.T.E. B.C. Telephone in 1990, to spend time at the cabin and enjoy life. He was very involved with coaching minor baseball and hockey. He was a tournament host for Pee Wee hockey for many years. Belonging to the Kinsmen while in Summerland and the Legion in Vernon, was very important to him. We was a volunteer fireman in Summerland and was always ready to help everyone, with a laugh and a smile. He touched the lives of so many with his easy going manner and kindness. He will be lovingly remembered forever. We would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the wonderful “family” of caregivers at Noric House and Polson Extended Care. A private celebration of life was held with family. Arrangements in the care of Personal Alternative Funeral Service 558-0866.
