1945 – 2010
Gordon George Bullock was born October 8, 1945 in Vancouver, BC and passed away September 15, 2010 with his loving family at his side following a lengthy battle with cancer. Everyone who knew Gordie, knew him as a kind, generous, fun loving and big-hearted man. His family: loving wife, Jackie, to whom he was married for forty-four years; his two children, Troy and Rachael; his favourite daughter-in-law, Lena, and the love of his life, his granddaughter, Jaden, were most important to him. His two dogs, McCurdy and Murphy, were his constant companions. Gordie had many close friends and travelling companions, too numerous to mention. He loved golf and was a member of Spallumcheen Golf Club for many years. Gord and Jackie owned and operated Red Top Grocery and Boots for thirty-five years. People from all over the Okanagan not only bought boots there but enjoyed conversations, ice cream and slurpees. In earlier days, Gord was a coach for both minor hockey and the RCMP hockey teams as well as running the Spallumcheen junior program for many years. He will be greatly missed. Thank you to Dr. Dippenaar, Dr. Hardy, Dr. Johnson, the nurses, staff and volunteers at the North Okanagan Hospice and the Cancer Clinic for their dedicated care and sincere efforts. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gordie’s life Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Paddlewheel Hall, 7813 Okanagan Landing Road, Vernon, BC. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation in Gord’s memory to North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 – 27 Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
