January 14, 1935 - July 6, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Graham Lloyd on July 6, 2018. Graham was predeceased by this wife, Dorothy, and survived by his sons, Paul and James, as well as his grandchildren, Dylan and Kailyn. Graham was a tremendously supportive member of the community and will be missed by friends, family, and everyone touched by his goodwill in this life.

Graham was born January 14, 1935 in Wales and spent the first half of his life there. He started a family in the late sixties with Dorothy Paul, a visiting teacher and native of Canada. In 1974 Dorothy's health and desire to be closer to her family brought them to Vernon BC, where she continued teach, and Graham began his decades long commitment to community work and civil service.

Graham was the founding director on a number of organizations, including Vernon and District Immigrant and Community Services, and the Vernon Multicultural Society- a cause to which he was deeply devoted. He became a longstanding member of the organizing committee for the Canada Day Festival in Polson Park, and was often in involved with Vernon Winter Carnival events through the Multicultural Society. He was recently recognized by the City of Vernon for his volunteerism.

Graham was an active participant in youth activities, as well, coaching minor league soccer and serving as Cub Scout Master for several years. Keeping with his heritage, he served an extended tenure as president of the Vernon Welsh society and enjoyed raising his voice in song with his 'Welsh Mates' in the North Okanagan Welsh choral group.

To his final days he helped fellow immigrants and refugees settle in Canada, teaching classes for the required examinations and attending Citizenship ceremonies with applicants. He provided scholarship bursaries from the Multicultural Society to graduating Greater Vernon area students until 2016. He loved the surrounding hillsides and lakes of Vernon, where he often took his & Dorothy's dog, Sandy, for epic strolls.

He was a proud Canadian, a wry Welshman, a loving family man, and a great friend to many who passed through his rich, noble life.
