October 29, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and Papa on October 21, 2021, at the age of 75 years. Grant was born in Medicine Hat and raised in the Etzikom district where he attended the Etzikom school. At school the teachers would say "if you're trying to get away with mischief don't even try unless you can do it as well as Grant Traxler did" Grant married Marie Gaetz on May 30, 1970. Grants career was in the natural gas industry working on transmission lines. In Grant's retirement years, he piloted for his son, Chad who hauled wide loads. Along with the father-son bonding time, he enjoyed seeing places he had never been to before. Grant loved nothing more than spending time with his family, whether it be camping trips, or just Sunday dinners. He had a great sense of humour and loved to make people laugh with his stories and jokes. Grant and Marie enjoyed traveling in their younger years and made some wonderful memories.
His memory will be treasured in the hearts of his wife, Marie; children, Nicole & Mike Gotobed, Chad Traxler; grandchildren Eve, Sophie & Scott.
Grant will also be remembered by his sister, Elaine (Doug) Mueller; Marie Brown; Bill Traxler as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Grant was predeceased by his parents Claude and Faith Traxler; sisters Grace Tucker, Claudia Halverson and Ruth Webster; brother Clifford Traxler; nieces Karen, Laurie & Vicki.
The family will celebrate Grant's life with a private family gathering at a later date.
