Mar 16, 1942 - Mar 2, 2018
Our Dad, Gregory Douglas (Greg) Freeman, was born on March 16th, 1942 in Vernon, B.C. where he lived with his Mom, Grandma and step-brother.  His Dad had died when Greg was only two years old.

As a young man, Dad loved many sports, with hockey being on the top of his list.  He spent many summers at the Vernon Cadet Camp (BC Dragoons), local beaches and the North End Drive In.  In 1960 Dad met his soon to be wife, Betty in Summerland, B.C. on a blind date. Dad always said that their courtship was rumoured to be a hot and steamy one!  They wed in 1961 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

They had three daughters, Brenda, born in 1962, Tina in 1963 and Debbie in 1966. Our family lived in Falkland with Dad working at Smith's Sawmill for many years and then Monte Lake for a brief time. In the early 1970's Dad moved the family to the "big" city of Armstrong as he took a job there at Crown Zellerbach. Through the years, the company changed hands as did Dad's jobs. He ended up being the Foreman of the sawmill and loved his work and all the wonderful men that worked for him.

Mom passed away in 1975 and Dad was left to raise his three girls as best he could. We have fond memories of stereo cranked Sundays, playing his favourites: CCR, BTO and the Stampeders. In 1985, he married his second wife, Irene Schneider. His family of three girls now grew to ten children, seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dad gave the BEST hugs. In the early 1990's Dad was forced to retire due to his health. He filled his time helping with the church, taking trips to Arizona and long walks. What he enjoyed the most was playing with his grandchildren and cherished visits with those who dropped by. Those who knew Dad, knows he loved to talk and tell stories.

In 2008, Dad was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie, followed by his wife, Irene in 2014.  He then moved to Canterbury Court which became his new home. Dad's last years were spent enjoying the company of so many wonderful friends that he had made. He truly felt loved and went out of his way to keep everyone happy and help out in any way that he could. He coped with adversity throughout his life and still managed to be a humble and kind soul to all, always remaining positive.

"Tack sa mycket" for a beautiful journey with you Dad.  "Tally ho" for now.  Love from your family.

Dad was suddenly called Home to be with his Lord on March 2nd, 2018 at the age of 75 years. A private family celebration of his life will take place at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of our Dad to the charity of their choice.
