It is with sadness and shock that we announce the sudden passing of Mr. Gregory Wayne (Greg) Garbutt of a heart attack on Thursday evening, December 21st, 2006 at the age of 53 years. On December 12th, 1953, Greg was born into a Vernon pioneer family and became the fifth generation
Garbutt to reside here. Greg will always be remembered by Mary Mielnichuk, his best friend and soul mate, his sisters, Sue (Romeo) Edwards of Enderby, B.C. and Norma (Alf) Canuel of Lumby, B.C., his brother, Ron Garbutt of Vernon, B.C., his uncle, Mel (Dorothy) Garbutt of Vernon, B.C., as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and Mary’s father, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother. Greg was a gifted man who excelled in whatever he set his mind to. He was a true optimist and overcame the challenges that faced him in his short life. In our sadness we realize that Greg’s huge soul became too large for his body to contain and we shall love and miss him until we meet again. Thank you to Gary and Linda Garbutt for their quick response when we needed you. Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Greg’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 30th, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Greg to Hospice House, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4. Funeral arrangements have been made with BETHEL FUNERAL CHAPEL LTD., 5605-27th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8Z5 (250) 542-1187
You could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
You found peace – at the close of day.
