1919 – 2010
Greta Cornish, at the age of 90, passed away on June 20, 2010 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong, BC. Born October 11, 1919 in Halland, Sweden. Greta arrived to Canada in 1925 living in Biggar, SK then she moved to Westbank with her family where she married Bill Cornish on October 25, 1940. Later moving to Salmon Arm and to Armstrong in 1951 where she lived on Pleasant Valley Road. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed helping out at the Armstrong IPE, bowling, and old-time dancing.
Predeceased by her husband Bill in 1979 and three brothers and two sisters, she was the last of her family. Greta will be forever loved and remembered by her son Wayne (Kay) Cornish of Armstrong; daughter Bonnie (Gord) Hamilton of Armstrong; fi ve grandchildren Michelle (Scott) Cornish of Enderby, Evan (Tine) Cornish of Belgium, Sabrina (Ryan) Sharteau of Vancouver, Clint (Lorraine) Hamilton of Victoria, Craig (Marilyn) of Armstrong; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 24th, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Zion United Church, 2315 Pleasant Valley Blvd, Armstrong, BC. Reverend Bari Castle officiating. Internment will be in the family plot at Armstrong-Spallumcheen Cemetery. Reception will follow at the Zion United Church Hall. All are welcome. Friends wishing to may make memorial contributions to Pleasant Valley Manor Residence Fund, 3800 Patten Drive, Armstrong, BC, V0E 1B2 where she received excellent care for which the family are very grateful.
