In loving memory ~
Gudrun passed away one month after Walter, her beloved husband of 64 years. Born in Germany, her early childhood was shaped by WWII. After working on the family farm, she taught elementary school in the DDR before following her elder sister to Canada in 1959. She met and married Walter in Williams Lake the following year.
Gudrun was an energetic household manager who found joy in making others happy. She thrived as a mother and homemaker: cooking, baking, sewing and gardening. No one could resist her Schnitzel or her desserts.
After their children left the house, Gudrun and Walter spent many years travelling the world and camping. She was always up for a game of Saskatchewan poker.
Left to remember her "power hugs" are her sister Ute, daughters Claudia Holland (Jeff) and Gisela Ruckert (Carl Gagnier) and grandsons Andreas and Stefan Gagnier Ruckert, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends on both sides of the Atlantic.
