December 19, 1934 - August 26, 2019
Gerry Nahm passed away peacefully in Vernon on Monday, August 26, 2019 at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Irene, who sadly left us in 2015, and by son-in-law Klaus in 2018. Gerry is survived by his children Cathy, Kevin (Sue) and Wendy (Tom) and his elder brother Tilman, along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born and raised in Kelowna, he became familiar to many throughout the Okanagan Valley delivering bulk fuel to customers. He gave much of himself to others and the community. Gerry was a long-time member of the Coldstream Volunteer Fire Department where he became chief and was instrumental in establishing the BX-Swan Lake Fire Department. Both Gerry and Irene were contributing members of the North Okanagan Vintage Car Club. He was extremely hard-working, but fun-loving, and meticulous in his passion for building or fixing machinery. His recreational pastimes focused on outdoor activities that complimented his love of nature including, snowmobiling, fishing and camping, and indoor hobbies such as canning preserves from the large vegetable garden he maintained. Gerry valued his friendships and upon retirement was honoured to receive visits from a steady stream of pals who appreciated his capacity to repair anything mechanical and to regale them with a fine selection of craft spirits accompanied by a wide variety of stories and anecdotes. He was a unique man, a good father and we will miss him. His final days were under the gracious care of Noric House staff for which the Nahm family is eternally grateful. In respect of Gerry's wishes, there will be a private family ceremony.
Those who wish may send a memorial donation to the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
