Peacefully she left us on May 31, 2017 at the age of 83, to join her beloved husband, Ken Ching Wong, and they are now forever together and always in our hearts and minds.

Marrying in their teens, Gin and Ken were life partners in love and work. They emigrated from China and settled in Vernon where they opened King’s Restaurant on 30th Avenue and later established Vernon Aviaries, a bird farm specializing in parakeets.

Gin’s true joy in life was to provide love, happiness and support to family and friends. She was always kind and generous to friends and relatives and was a doting wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her pleasure was to give love and kindness and she received it in return.

With her husband’s passing, Gin spent the last few years living with family in Coquitlam where she was adored by grandchildren, Melvin (Lavina), Ethan, Kensington and great-grandchild Anjali. She returns now to Vernon to be laid to rest alongside her husband.

Gin is survived by her children: Don (Mei), Garry (Teresa), Beatrice (Alan), Jim (Sallie), and Brian (Lil); thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There will be a funeral service in remembrance of Gin Wong at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, June 11th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to PLEASANT VALLEY DIGNITY FUNERAL HOME, 4303 P.V. Road, Vernon, B.C. V1T 4M4 Phone: (250) 542-4333. Condolences may be offered at pleasantvalleyfh.com
