Gunter was born on April 20th, 1928 in Herischdorf, Germany and was called Home to be with his Lord on April 26th, 2021 at the age of 93 years.
Gunter will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth, to whom he was married for 65 years; one daughter, Siegrid Krizanowski; one son, Harold (Heidi) Koch; four grandchildren, Jeanine and Sheldon Koch, Annaliese (Jim) McLauglin, and Steffanie (Brenden) Goring; five great-grandchildren, Sydney, Vienna and Ashton Koch, Branten and Lewis Goring; and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and both brothers.
Gunter immigrated to Canada in 1951, landing in Vancouver and went to Terrace, B.C. to work on the railroad. He lived and worked there for several years, met the love of his life, Ruth and they were married on January 7th, 1956 in Vernon, B.C.
They continued to remain in Terrace until shortly after the birth of their first child, Siegrid. They then made the move to Vernon where Gunter found employment with the Coldstream Planer Mill, a job he would remain faithful at until his retirement. Their son Harold was born in 1960.
In respecting Gunter's wishes, he was cremated and there will be no service held at this time due to the COVID-19 restrictions. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Gunter to the charity of their choice.
