December 23, 1933 - July 19, 2018
Gwendolyn Alice Uniat Cooper was born December 23, 1933 on a farm in the Beauvallon district of Alberta, East of Edmonton, and passed to her rest July 19, 2018 in Vernon BC. Alice was the youngest of 10 children to Steven and Lena Uniat.

She was predeceased by her brothers: Pastor Peter, Paul, Mike, and Dr. John; and is survived by her brother, Dr. Joseph. She was predeceased by her sisters: Rose, Katie, Anne, and Nancy; and is survived by her sister, Mary.

We knew her as Alice. Throughout her childhood, she attended local public schools in the area. From early on, she would walk to school, to home and to work until she reached grade 11. From there, she went on to attend Canadian Union College in Lacombe, Alberta. Following grade 11, she moved to Edmonton and there took courses at Mactavich Business School which led her to a job with the Alberta Government Telephone.

Years later, Alice and Art Cooper married in 1955 and stayed together until her passing, 63 years later. Art and Alice have two children. Their son, Murray, who has a Masters in Administration, works as an associate superintendent of SDA schools in the Florida Conference. Their daughter, Carole, who has a Masters in Arts and Teaching, works as a kindergarten teacher at Rogers Adventist School in College Place, WA.

During her time in Edmonton, Alice became known for her involvement with the community. In particular, she was very active in the Edmonton Central SDA Church. Alice served many roles, such as participating in the childrens' divisions and young peoples' meetings, by hosting evangelistic meetings, serving as a deaconess, and later as the head deaconess, and was very active with music by being a part of the praise team and choir. Besides her involvement in the church, she also was engaged and dedicated to her friends and family. She was a hostess by nature and excelled and blessed many by her generosity and service.

Alice was a wonderful cook and is known for her abilities in meal preparations, at home and for potlucks. She hosted countless bridal and baby showers, birthday and anniversary parties and game nights. Overall, Alice, in general, was a "doer" of many things for the church, her family, and friends. Alice continued these roles and brought them with her to their move to Vernon, BC. In 2016, Alice experienced a TIA stroke, which was followed by a series of minor strokes, and two major strokes; one in March 2017 and one on July 14, 2018.

She was a wonderful and loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend to all. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Let us all get ready to meet her when Jesus comes again. The family extends special thanks to the staff at Polson Residential Facility for their love and care.

To Alice, my love,

Thank-you for your love, kindness, and faithfulness over our journey together for all these years.

You were a great buddy.

Love Art
