Gweneth Lois McMechan, a longtime resident of Vernon passed away peacefully at the home of her son Daryll and daugher-in-law Pauline, July 15, 2007.
Gwen was born in Salmon Arm in 1915, the third of ten children. Gwen met the love of her life, Harold while he worked at haying for her father. They had a two year courtship, married, and moved to Vernon in l938 when Gwen was 23. Predeceased by Harold in l996, Gwen moved to Salmon Arm in l997 to be close to her sisters. After residing in Salmon Arm for seven years, Gwen relocated to Kamloops and was a resident of Berwick on the Park until June 29th when Daryll and Pauline moved her into their home. Gwen will be sadly missed by her son Daryll (Pauline), daughter Colleen (Paul) Dube’, grandsons Duane, Craig (Kim), and Jamie, great grandchildren, Jorde, Colton, Iryn, and Ella, sisters Marge, Muriel, Betty, and brother Phil, along with many other family members and friends. Gwen’s family and friends were very dear to her heart and leaves us all with her wonderful memories to cherish. A Memorial Service to celebrate Gwen’s 92 years with us will be held on Saturday, July 21, at 2 PM at Kamloops Full Gospel Church, 1550 Tranquille Road, Pastor Darrell Hellquist officiating.
