Hajime Horiuchi


HAJIME “Jim” HORIUCHI of Kelowna, previously of Vernon, passed away suddenly at home of a heart condition on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at the age of 86. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Fumiyo (Bonnie); his daughters Linda (dog – Sasha) Kelowna, Janette (Gord) Rodway, Calgary; grandchildren: Michael (Kendra), Calgary; Christopher (Evie), Calgary; sister Kuni Yamauchi, Kelowna; brother-in-law Suey Koga, Kelowna; nephews David (Heather), Kelowna; Ron (Willow), Vancouver; grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins. Hajime was predeceased by his parents Takao and Yuki Horiuchi and sister Mary Koga. Jim worked in the lumber industry for many years at Weyerhauser in Lumby before retirement. At Jim’s request, no funeral service will be held. Cremation by Springfield Funeral Home. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, #4 – 1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 9M9 or the charity of your choice. A gift in living memory of Jim will be made to “Holding Hands for Hospice” by Springfield Funeral Home.
