September 30, 1927 - March 30, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hank (Hendrick) Zoethout (95) of Vernon, B.C., who passed away peacefully on March 30, 2023.
He is now in the presence of Jesus.
Hank was born Sept 30, 1927, in Oosterwierum, Netherlands. After serving 3 years in the Dutch Army in Indonesia, he returned to Holland and married the love of his life, Jenny in 1952. The same year they immigrated to Canada and Vernon has been their home since then.
Hank was an incredibly hard worker. He worked at several jobs and occupations but then started Cidel Moving in 1975. 48 years of business was indeed fulfilling and a proud achievement for him. Hank was also one of the founding fathers of the Vernon CRC (Easthill Community Church), where he was involved for many years as a church board leader and a Boys Club leader, not to mention his soccer skills at Church picnics.
Hank spent many hours volunteering at the Gleaners. Hank didn't boast many hobbies, but spent many hours playing horseshoes at the Vernon clubhouse.
He is survived by his devoted wife Jenny of 71 years; 8 children Kathie (Roger), Fran, Art (Wendy), Elmer (Irene), Rose (Peter), Rick (Karen), Deb (Brett), and Ed (Larissa); 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Hank was predeceased by his grandson, Levi Stenberg and his son-in-law, Henry de Vries.
Dad's life wasn't always easy, but his sense of humour, his faith, and his gentle nature carried him through.
We are all blessed to have had Hank in our lives!!
Celebration of Life will be held on May 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Easthill Community Church, 3605 12 Street, Vernon, B.C.
