Harley Edward Holman

went to be with his blessed saviour on August 3, 2009 at the age of 85 yrs and 2 days in the Rocky General Hospital with his family by his side.

Harley was born August 1, 1924 in Shaunavon, Sask. to Edward and Fay Holman. On June 21, 1950 he married Violet Courtright in Rocky Mtn. House. Together they had 6 children.

Prior to their marriage he was a member of the Signal Corps stationed in Europe. He always maintained his membership with the Canadian Legion as well as he was a life time member of the Caroline Order of Elks.

Through his years he demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by starting and running various businesses including the Harley & Len’s Express, different farming adventures including raising rabbits in Cherryville, BC and owning and running the Cow Lake Grandview Store at Rocky Mtn House. He also worked as a bus driver and was employed by the BC Dept of Highways.

Harley had a great love for travel and he and Vi spent lots of time travelling back and forth between their homes in Rocky and Vernon and went to Arizona for the winter months for quite a few years.

Harley is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Violet as well as sons, Dennis and Jackson (Denise), daughters Leanne Nelson (Erin), Laureen Guenther (Brian) and Lorna Beanblossom (Leonard), 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, his siblings Stella, George, Jess and Lennard.

He was predeceased by one son Norman in 1972, his parents , brother Don and sisters Della and Letta.

To quote him he has now “Gone to see for myself”.
