Harold Henry (Harry) Strangward passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2004, surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary of Vernon; four sons Barry (Terri), Don, Duane (Colleen) and Lance (Janice); four daughters Sherry (Wayne), Donna (Richard), Joanne (Richard) and Rhonda. Harry will also be sadly missed by twenty grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers Lloyd (Cherie) and Maurice (Roberta); one sister Ruth Dicer; numerous extended family and friends of a lifetime. Born at Nanaimo in 1925, Harry served overseas during World War II as a tail gunner in Lancaster Bombers. He continued serving in the R.C.A.F. until his retirement to Kelowna in 1975 where he lived until moving to Vernon a few years ago. Prayers were held Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at 7:00 p.m., led by Father Herkel. Requiem Mass will be offered Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 3016 – 37th Street, Vernon. Father Boulet Celebrant. Interment to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Centre, Vernon Jubilee Hospital, 2101 – 32nd Street, Vernon, BC V1T 9Z9.
