MILLER, Harold Reinhardt & Violet Juline
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Harold Reinhardt Miller and his loving wife of 61 years, Violet Juline Miller passed away suddenly in a tragic car accident in Lake Country on July 15, 2014.
Harold Reinhart Miller was born on May 2, 1932 in Young, Saskatchewan. Mom and Dad were married in Cloverdale, B.C. on January 31, 1953. Dad loved his family and was always helping someone, somewhere at any given time. He enjoyed telling numerous stories of his youth which consisted of horse handling, ranching, cattle drives, rail riding and truck driving experiences. With his sheet metal trade, he had a long employment history with Ron Brown Plumbing and Heating. After retirement he worked occasionally on projects for Sunset Systems until the present. Dad was a man of many hats and helped Mom with projects and in many ways.
Violet Juline Miller was born on January 29, 1935 in Tofield, Alberta. In her early years, Mom worked in the Service Sector including managing a Fields store in Terrace, B.C. and also working for People’s Jewellery Store in Vernon, B.C. Mom loved her family, gardening and animals. She was always into one craft or another. Dad would build wood projects and she would paint them with her special style mostly oil paints. Mom belonged to a Poultry Club and had many ribbons for her fancy show chickens. On their hobby farm on the Commonage, she and Dad ran a catnip operation called Deer Hill Farms. She was always a farmer at heart and she plans to farm in heaven. Mom also was awarded for her service for the People-In-Need Crisis Intervention Society which turned out to be a lifelong position as she was always helping others whenever they were in need, no matter the cost.
Harold and Violet will be forever loved and missed by their four children: Jim Miller (LorrieLee), Cliff Miller (Jennifer), Mike Miller (Sylvia) and Crystal Smith (Dale Hachkewich). Further cherishing their memory are Violet’s sisters Tillie Done, Bernice Babchuk (Jim), her brother Edward Moen (Leona), fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Their great-grandson, Thomas Davies, passed away with them on July 15, 2014.
Harold was predeceased by his parents Emil and Rose Miller, sister Mary (Freddie Kronebush), brother Johnnie Miller (Dot), brother Wilf Miller (Loana).
Violet was predeceased by her parents, Jennie and Bert Moen, brother Ben Moen (May),sister Loretta Thomas and brother-in-law Trevor Done.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday July 26, 2014 at Emmanuel Baptist Church (3412 15th Avenue, Vernon, BC). Flowers welcome. Those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation in Harold’s and Violet’s memory to the Vernon SPCA (4800 Haney Road, Vernon, B.C V1H 1P6).
