July 25, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harry John Bongers on July 25, 2011. Harry leaves behind his loving wife Linda, 3 children Devin (Laura), Dennis (Darcee), Aleshia (Dave), and his 4 grandchildren Dayten, Danika, Madalyn and Amelia. He will also be greatly missed by his mother Wilhelmina Bongers, his brothers Peter and Fred, his sisters Thea, Mary Anne (Jeff), Ellie (Lyle), Ria, and many nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by his younger brother Hugo, his father William, and his brother-in-law Alfred Luttmerding. Harry was born in Holland and moved with his family as a young boy to Canada. The family settled in the Armstrong area. He was a very jovial person and always had a smile on his face. The family farm that he loved was his passion, as well as curling, fishing, and Friday night lacrosse. A Celebration of Harry’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2011 at St. Joseph Parish Hall (3335 Patterson Street, Armstrong, British Columbia). In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Harry may be made to the Huntington Society of Canada BC Chapter (P.O. Box 41545, New Westminster, BC V3M 1K0, www.britishcolumbiahd.ca). Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.myalternatives.ca.
