MR. HARRY FILIPCHUK passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 12th, 2003 at the age of 77 years after a courageous battle against cancer. He was very much loved and will be sadly missed by his wife Rose; daughters and son-in-laws, Valerie & Jack Vickers of Drumheller, Alberta; Renee & Rick Clark of Vernon, B.C.; Vesta Filipchuk & Greg Heywood of North Vancouver, B.C.; grandchildren, Megan, Joe, Keenan, Natasha, Tegan, Aliya and Nitara; brothers, Bill Filipchuk of Surrey, B.C. and John Filipchuk and his wife Sandy of Kelowna, B.C.; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends. Harry was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1929. He grew up in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and served in the Canadian Navy during WWII. He moved to Vernon in 1948 after falling in love with the Okanagan Valley. Family and friends were always important to Harry and he has left us with many great memories. Harry loved to travel and was fortunate to see many countries. He enjoyed fishing and sports and had a passion for gardening and sharing the harvest. His generosity has touched the hearts of many and his positive outlook, friendly smile and many acts of kindness will be fondly remembered. A Service to celebrate his life will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 18th, 2003 at 1:30 P.M. with Pastor Myron Crown officiating. Interment of Harry’s cremated remains will follow in the Legion Section of the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be forwarded to firstname.lastname@example.org.
