Harry Charles Wheelhouse
May 17, 1925 – April 27, 2007
Harry passed away peacefully in Vernon, B.C. on Friday, April 27, 2007 with his beloved wife of 58 years, Blanche, at his side. He will be greatly missed by his children Barry (Elva), Garry (Maria), Eileen (Norm) Rupp, Glen (Bev), Carol (Dave) Dobie, and Jay (Val), 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Harry was predeceased by his son, Walter, and his brother, Jack.
Harry was born in Vancouver, B.C. and joined the Navy in 1942, serving on the high seas for 2Â½ years as a signalman. After the war Harry moved to Vernon, where upon graduating from Business College worked for Bell Pole, J.S. Galbraiths & Sons and Price and Markle Industrial Supplies as an accountant and office manager.
Harry was also a Sgt. in the B.C. Dragoons, a volunteer with the navy league, a lifelong member of the Knights of Pythias and the treasurer for First Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Gateby for their loving care.
A Memorial Service for Harry will be held at the Emmanuel Fellowship Baptist Church, 3412 15th Avenue, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5th.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gateby Care Centre, 3000 Gateby Place, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8V8.
