HARVEY R. ‘JIM’ HARRIS
With the deepest sorrow we announce the sudden
passing of Jim after a hard fi ght against Idiopathic
Pulmonary Fibrosis, which was further aggravated
when he contacted a respiratory virus two weeks
ago.
Jim is survived by his loving, long time partner,
Ruth Turcotte, his very special cousins, Jacqueline
de Vries, Geri Archer and their mother Tillie (Lillian)
Nordin, all of Toronto, and many other family
members and friends. Jim was predeceased by
his mother at an early age and was raised by his
grandmother, Marie Hopwood.
Jim was born in Vernon, BC on December 14,
1943, and he passed away at the Vernon Jubilee
Hospital on April 23, 2008. Ruth and four very
special friends were by his side and the comfort
and support given to Jim and Ruth at this devastating
time was a gift that can never be repaid.
Jim and Ruth loved to travel and they were very fortunate
to have been able to spend the past winter
in the southern USA while he was well enough to
enjoy it.
At Jim’s request there will be no formal funeral.
However, family and friends are invited to attend
a Celebration of Jim’s Life on Saturday, May 3,
2008, between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. in their home
at 3520 Colony Avenue, Armstrong. In lieu of
fl owers, those wishing to make a donation in Jim’s
memory may do so to the BC Lung Association or
a charity of their choice.
Arrangements and cremation in the care of:
Personal Alternative Funeral Services,
Armstrong, 546-7237.
