Hazel “Muriel” Davies
July 31st, 1919 – May 28th, 2013
“My cup is overflowing and I’m drinking from my saucer!”
On May 28th, 2013 Muriel went to join Cliff for their anniversary after 93 years filled with laughter, tears, hard work and plenty of love.
Muriel’s parents came from Bareneed, Newfoundland and she was born in Vernon on July 31st, 1919. She grew up in the B.X. and Lavington areas helping her family on their orchards. On May 30th, 1940 she married Clifford Davies and they worked their orchard in the B.X. for seven years before moving to Lavington. As well as raising her three children: Tom, Carolyn and Ted, she taught Sunday School in the area for twenty eight years. She was very involved in the Lavington Ladies Work Group, all church functions and was the first person to lend a hand to anyone in need. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed baking for her grandchildren (she made the best chocolate chip cookies!) and she loved her many fishing and camping adventures with her husband, children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Cliff in the fall of 2005. Surviving her are her children Tom (Linda), Carolyn (John), Ted (Donna), 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sister Myra Guenard and brothers Allan (Gwen) Dawe, Tony (Joanne) Hutnyk.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, June 9th, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the Trinity United Church in Vernon on 3300 Alexis Park Drive.
