Hazel McGregor Stakkestad (nee McIntyre)

September 14, 1934 - May 27, 2019
We are saddened to announce the passing of Hazel McGregor Stakkestad on May 27, 2019 in Vernon, BC. Hazel is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Rob) and son Keith (Wilma), grandchildren Ryan, Travis, Shannon (Joe), Michelle (Kevin), Jamie (Chris), Bradley, Ariel (Eddy), and great-grandchildren Rylee and Lucas. Hazel is predeceased by her husband Herman, sisters Jean, Marlyn (Paul), Shirley (Chic). Hazel immigrated to Toronto in 1952 where she met her husband Herman (Norway). They were married almost 60 years living in Toronto, Norway, Edmonton, Penticton and eventually Vernon, and always enjoyed dancing, singing, crafts, knitting, and gardening. After Herman passed in 2014, Hazel lived at Carrington Place, Hearthstone Manor, and Gateby Place. The family and Hazel would like to express their deep gratitude to all the caregivers and workers at these homes where she was looked after with tender loving care. Also, a thank you to Interior Health staff who were always there to support Hazel. Matthew Chapter 25, Verse 40 reads: "And the King will answer and say to them, assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me." Thank you.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 8 at Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services (4417-29 Street, Vernon) with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your choice.
